Leadership Training for Christ

"HERE AM I"

This is our 2008 LTC theme for this year. It comes from the book of First Samuel. Bible Bowl will be based on First Samuel as well. Registration has begun and will end on October 21st. We will once again meet at the Reunion Hyatt in Dallas March 21-23 for competition. This is the 20th anniversary of LTC so there will be some special events this year. There will be a combined church service at the Anatole on Easter Sunday. All sites will meet there for Sunday service. I will have more details to follow. Please see Penny Hagen for questions regarding registration or events for LTC.

Leadership Training for Christ (LTC) is a program designed for children and youth from 3rd-12th grade. Brentwood Oaks participates in the North Texas Chapter of LTC, which is held in Dallas, Texas on Easter Weekend. The program consists of events and challenges such as Bible Bowl, Bible Quiz, Service Challenge, Teaching Challenge, Art, Chorus, Christian Drama, Christian Puppets performances, Bible Reading, Speech, Song Leading, and Daily Devotional Challenge.

LTC gives our young people the opportunity to develop skills in the areas of teaching and serving others as well as expanding their knowledge of the Bible with Bible Bowl and Bible Quiz. Our young men learn to lead singing and read scripture, which prepares them for leadership in those areas in their home congregations. Our young ladies learn to teach others about Jesus in Bible classes, and both boys and girls learn to serve others and serve our Lord with the Service Challenge. Daily Devotional Challenge encourages them to spend time daily in the Bible and pray for situations in their own lives as well as in the lives of others.

The theme for 2008 was “Here Am I” from First Samuel. Our Bible Bowl teams took home Bronze, Silver & Gold. High School Chorus directed by Mike McCormick also earned a Gold for their performance. Middle School Chorus earned a Silver award for their efforts. Hannah Wilhite earned Gold for Signing for the Deaf, Nick Sterling and Jay Wiles earned Gold for Bible Reading, Summer Thompson and Jenna Greenwood earned Gold for Daily Devotion, Puppet Teams all earned Gold for their “Secret Agent Man” script. Teaching and Service Challenge participants all earned Gold for their hard work in Bible Class Teaching and Service Projects throughout the year. Numerous youth participants earned Gold for Art, Children’s Book, Computer Generated Art, Sculpture and Painting. We had 36 participants this year and are looking for even more to join us next year. Our theme will be from John, Chapter 1, verse 1 and will be “Life, Light, and Love”
