Psalms, Hymns, Songs

The Spirit of God in the church permits and enables God’s people to pray and sing faithfully to God the Father (Eph 5:18). The church’s primary songbook are the 150 Psalms. Inspired believers throughout the centuries have also provided us with hymns expressing God’s will (Eph 5:17f). We enjoy singing together (James 5:13), singing to the Father and the Son, the sacrifice of our lips and our wills (Heb 13:15). At Brentwood Oaks we pray and sing in the Spirit and we strive to pray and sing in the mind, as Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 14:15

When we come together, we sing a variety of hymns, thanking the Father, teaching one another (Col. 4:15). Join us in learning to sing the Psalms and to understand them in singing. Join us on Wednesday nights in learning new songs. Prepare for this Sunday and our next SongFest, singing our hymns at home.
