Youth Goals
LEARN
Helping students develop their own faith
Students must develop their own faith from the ground up. A good foundation is important, but that foundation must be built upon. It will be important for these growing students to hear the Bible taught in a relevant way, establish a strong prayer life, and learn to study the Word on their own. Helping them establish this lifestyle of Christ-followership will go a long way towards helping them be faithful for the rest of their lives.
LIVE
Helping students live in Christ
Instead of belonging to the world, our students should learn what it is to find their identity in this world as Christians. This will require each person to practice selflessness in a selfish culture, purity in a polluted world, wisdom in a foolish culture, generosity in a world of takers, and humility amongst a prideful people. The world should see Christ in the actions of the students, especially when are away from their church surroundings. After hearing the Word, students should learn to do what it says.
LOVE
Helping students love others
Despite the constant influence to satisfy selfish desires, students must decide to "Love your neighbor as yourself." This should take place inside and outside the walls of this church building. Following Christ calls us to a social awareness of those who are outcast, on the fringe, lonely, new, or otherwise in need. Students feel welcome at Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ regardless of where they go to school, where they have previously worshiped, or how much they know about Christ.
LOCATE
Helping students find their role in God's kingdom
Learning to live in an unseen kingdom can be challenging and confusing. It will be important for students to discover their gifts and use them for God's kingdom. God needs some to step up and lead in His kingdom, which requires humbling oneself to serving others. He also needs some to follow. All must learn obedience to the King and be willing to follow the most important rule in the kingdom- "Love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind."
