Missions
We have had the wonderful opportunity to know Christ Jesus and we now seek to make him known to others. We take seriously our call to speak the gospel internationally. This is a priority for Brentwood Oaks. Today we are active in local missions, such as FriendSpeak and World Bible School. Every Sunday a Bible class is held with those for whom English is a second language. Contact Paul Lennous for information about this class. In 2010 we sent Shay and Juli Smith to live in Dublin, Ireland. They are finding people of peace and leading them to know Christ as Lord. We support Christian workers in Guatemala through our association with Health Talents International. We provide funding to Mladen Jovanovic enabling him to purchase radio air time in Croatia and to preach the good news in Eastern Europe. We encourage BOCC members to participate in short-term mission trips, taking the good news of what God has done in Christ to people to need to hear it.

World Bible School
WBS is widely known throughout Churches of Christ as a leader in correspondence course driven Bible study. Through the mailing of printed lessons as well as a strong Internet presence, BOCC teachers are able to share in a growing ministry which teaches the Good News to hundreds of thousands of eager students each year. Contact Hugh Morgan for additional information.
FriendSpeak
FriendSpeak reaches out to our international neighbors with the English language, friendship, and the Word of God. Unlike traditional English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL) classes, FriendSpeak is conducted in a one-to-one setting with the emphasis on relationships and meaningful conversation. Christians meet weekly with their international readers to help them practice their English, discussing the stories of the Gospels from easy-to-read workbooks. In this context, language skills improve, friendships are born, and faith is discussed openly. To join Brentwood Oaks' FriendSpeak ministry, contact Tammy Driskell.
Dublin, Ireland
Shay and Juli Smith have dedicated themselves to speaking the gospel of Jesus Christ in Dublin, Ireland. Shay was the Youth Minister at Brentwood Oaks through May, 2010. We commissioned Shay and Juli to their service in Dublin on Sunday, May 30, 2010, commending to them to the grace of God. They left for Dublin in mid-June 2010 as part of a four-family team who have committed themselves to forming bodies of believers in different locations in greater Dublin. Pray now for God to open the hearts of those who will hear the gospel through these his servants.

Guatemala
In 1970 Brentwood Oaks sent four families to preach the Good News to the Mayan people of the Mid-western Highlands. Currently we provide support to Baldimar Ruiz as he manages the evangelistic outreach of Health Talents International in Southwestern Coastal Region of Guatemala. Ten new congregations have been established in recent years. We provide support for leadership training seminars which improve the Biblical understanding of preachers from Central America. The ABC program supports children in Christian families, helping to ensure that they remain in school and active in church. This ministry seeks to provide a physically healthy and biblically literate population for the next generation of the church in Guatemala. Linda King can tell you more.
Croatia
We support the preaching of the Gospel in Croatia through the radio ministry of Mladen Jovanovic whose programs are heard beyond the borders of Croatia. His new radio partner is Valdo Psenko, evangelist and minister at Zagreb Downtown Church of Christ. Psenko broadcasts over the Zagreb suburb local radio station of Velika Gorica. The Word is proclaimed from Zagreb and surrounding cities and new congregations are planted through the response to this programming. In mid-April 2006 Psenko’s 3-minute Bible radio messages began to be heard over Radio Brod FM. This is a great breakthrough in Croatian radio ministry. Radio Brod is located east of Zagreb on the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina. The city is literally divided between these two countries, and radio programs are heard and listened to in Bosnia. Radio Brod is the ninth radio station where the Good News of Jesus Christ can be heard in the Croatian language.
