Ministers

  Roger McCown
Pulpit and Member Care

Roger and MaryBeth came to Brentwood Oaks in 1967. Missionary and preacher, son of a missionary and preacher, Roger was born in West Texas, lived in Turkey and was educated at Harding University and Harding Graduate School of Religion.  Brentwood sent the McCowns to work in cross-cultural evangelism in Guatemala from 1970-1982. Since returning, Roger's responsibilities include preaching and member involvement. The McCowns have two sons and four grandchildren.  Roger enjoys good conversation, reading, fishing and hunting, probably in that order.

  Charlie Johanson
Small Groups

Charlie was raised in La Vernia, Texas, and graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in math. At A&M he also met Julie, his wife, who has a degree in special education. Charlie taught math for four years before changing direction to attend Austin Graduate School of Theology, where he earned a Masters in Theological Studies. While in school, Charlie served as a youth minister at the Pond Springs Church of Christ, before joining our ministers at Brentwood Oaks. His primary responsibilities are with our Bible Classes and HomeGroups.

  Jackie Boyd
Children

Jackie began attending Brentwood Oaks in the mid-1980s when she married Jeff Boyd, then Brentwood's Youth Minister.  Jeff took them off to law school in California for three years, returning in the early 90s.  Jackie taught elementary school for several years, and then took a break to focus on raising their children, twin daughters Hanna and Abbie, and son Carter.  In 2005, Jackie transitioned from volunteer to Coordinator of Children's Ministry and made Jeff the "minister's spouse!"
