Roger and MaryBeth came to Brentwood Oaks in 1967. Missionary and preacher, son of a missionary and preacher, Roger was born in West Texas, lived in Turkey and was educated at Harding University and Harding Graduate School of Religion.  Brentwood Oaks sent the McCowns to work in cross-cultural evangelism in Guatemala from 1970-1982. Roger served as the Minister of the Word for Brentwood Oaks from 1983 to 2012.  Beginning in June, 2012, in his current role as Senior Minister for the church, Roger's responsibilities include member care, missions and administrative assistance to all of the congregations ministries.  The McCowns have two sons and four grandchildren.  Roger enjoys good conversation, reading, fly fishing and hunting, probably in that order.

Preaching and Adult Education

Charlie was raised in La Vernia, Texas, and graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in math. At A&M he also met Julie, his wife, who has a degree in special education. Charlie taught math for four years before changing direction to attend Austin Graduate School of Theology, where he earned a Masters in Theological Studies. While in school, Charlie served as a youth minister at the Pond Springs Church of Christ, before joining our ministers at Brentwood Oaks in 2007 where his primary responsibilities were oversight of our Small Groups and Adult Education.  In June, 2012, Charlie assumed his responsibilities as our Minister of the Word and continues to direct our adult education.

Jackie Boyd   Jackie Boyd

Jackie began attending Brentwood Oaks in the mid-1980s when she married Jeff Boyd, then Brentwood's Youth Minister.  Jeff took them off to law school in California for three years, returning in the early 90s.  Jackie taught elementary school for several years, and then took a break to focus on raising their children, twin daughters Hanna and Abbie, and son Carter.  In 2005, Jackie transitioned from volunteer to Coordinator of Children's Ministry and made Jeff the "minister's spouse!" 

James Henley   James Henley

James was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After graduating from Harding University in 2002, he has worked as a youth minister at churches in Uvalde, Texas and Dallas, Texas. He married Ashlee in 2005 and they had their first child, Mallory, in 2011. James likes to spend time with his family, play sports, listen to and play music, as well as talk about himself in the third person. James is excited to be on staff at Brentwood and to be working with such a great group of students and parents!
