The Circle of Life

James says that life is like a mist.  It is here for a short while and then it vanishes into thin air.  I was painfully reminded of this the night before Nathan was born.  Julie and I decided to celebrate Valentine's Day early in order to beat the crowds.  Because Nathan was still a week away (or so we thought) we decided to take some pregnancy pictures with a friend and then go out to eat to celebrate V-Day.

Prayer EssayPrayer EssayA few weeks ago, my mother gave me a copy of something that I had written when I was nine.  After some thinking, I remembered the occasion for writing this essay.  Our Sunday School class was asked to write essays on prayer, and the best essay would be printed in the bulletin.  As you may have guessed, every essay was a winner and each one was printed in the bulletin much to our excitement.  After reading it, I was glad that each essay was printed.

When I fell in love with reading

When I was a junior in college, I worked part time as a "copy boy" in the accounting department.  The job provided a lot of downtime, especially in the summer, which was perfect for a student worker.  Up to this point I had never been an avid reader.  I enjoyed most of the books that I was assigned to read in high school, but I never picked up a book and read for the sheer pleasure of reading.  That all changed in the summer of 1998 when I was bored to tears working in the accounting department.  I picked up a book that I had heard about in my childhood called W
