Reading Deuteronomy

The church at Brentwood Oaks will read Deuteronomy during January, February and March at 9AM on Sunday mornings. Here is an overview of what it’s all about:

“Deuteronomy is set in the wilderness east of Jordan, shortly before the death of Moses. It contains Moses’ final address to the general assembly of Israel prior to his death. It is at this time that Moses rehearsed the history of Israel’s exodus from Egypt and the subsequent forty years of wilderness life. He reminded the present generation of Israel — the children of the doubting generation of the provocation — of how they got where they were and where they were headed.” — Rodney Shaw

Think about it. Do you know “where” you are – spiritually? Do you know where you’re headed? Come and read with us.

A Christian view of the world . . .

To be Christian is to see the world in a different light by peering through an altered lens. Christians are learning to see as God sees and to know what God knows about both the world in which we live and the ways we are to live in the world.

There is much benefit is reading about the experiences of those who have gone before us. We see the blessing which came to them through their obedient response to God’s love for them. We see as well the brokenness and abandonment they experienced when they insisted on doing as they pleased.
